What started out as a run for fame ended up being a form of therapy
"What started out as a run for fame ended up being a form
of therapy"
A Childish beginning
I still remember that day during my 6th grade
when some of my friends began arm wrestling each other.
And like every other kid I also went in to prove what a strong
guy I was, but naturally as someone who never worked out, I lost badly.
However, this small loss was what lit a spark in me to start
working out to get stronger and no matter how childish this reason was, to this
very day I am glad that I came back home and watched a YouTube video on
beginner workouts as it honestly changed my life.
My perception
People often ask me why I work out and spend so much time
draining myself like this.
Well,
Over the years, my perception of working out has changed
fundamentally. It's not something one would do just for looks, sport or even
physical well-being; it has so much more to it.
It supports someone in such crucial ways that the few hours
spent regularly seem entirely worth it.
Sense of Discipline
Firstly, I'd like to highlight the sense of discipline it
provides; when someone starts engaging in regular workouts, they get a profound
idea of discipline that permeates various aspects of life.
The commitment to stick to a workout routine, whether it's
early in the morning or after long days, fosters strong mental and physical
discipline.
Willpower
Funnily enough it contributes to willpower as well.
To get up and go out to run or to the gym takes quite a lot of determination, and not just this,
See, any form of workout in general, weight lifting,
running, swimming or even yoga, is challenging and requires substantial
willpower.
Thereby when one manages to finish their daily exercise routine, whether it be the last few reps of a set or jogging through the last mile, it not only improves their physical strength but also their mental strength significantly.
Self-Esteem Boost
When one works out the right way, they start making slow and
steady progress,
from running one mile to two or from benching 50kg to 55kg,
these achievements might be small, but they're undoubtedly
significant and can make an enormous difference in one's life.
This kind of progress might just be the most remarkable
thing in someone's week, making them feel great and giving their self-esteem a
substantial boost.
In Conclusion
Incorporating regular workouts in our life not only
transforms us physically but also enriches us spiritually.
The regular sessions of pushing ourselves to the limit and
achieving new goals serve as a powerful exercise for personal growth.
Focusing through the steady rhythmic movements can almost be
meditative, allowing us to think and contemplate connecting with our inner
selves and achieving mental clarity.
Therefore, over the years of training, I have integrated working out with my daily life; it’s something that I’ve always done and will keep on doing; I don’t see it as anything stressful but somewhat therapeutic, helping me achieve solace.
