The Scar

There is no children who does not like to play. When we were kids we all liked to play. Be it indoor games or outdoor games. Just like that me as a kid loved playing games, specially the outdoor ones like Football and cricket to be exact. My School was Dhaka Residential Model college. I'm pretty sure you know about this institution. And if not, let me tell you this is the largest single institution in Dhaka with an Area of 52 acres of land. There were about 14 fields in my school and every student loved to play in those fields of our school. I would regularly play cricket and sometimes football in the tiffin period and after the school was over with my school friends. I would also go play in the fields near my home in the afternoon with my friends in the neighborhood. It was a regular routine of my life. And i really enjoyed it. Infact most of the children would.

Dhaka Residential Model College

This went on for about 2 years. Until one-day in 2015, i was playing cricket in the field near my house. Those are public fields and many more people from different places come to play in those fields. I was in the fielding position and obviously was focusing on my pitch. Suddenly a ball from a different pitch directly hit me in my left eye. I couldn't see anything nor hear. My eye was burning so badly it was unbearable. I could even open it. Luckily i was not wearing glasses at that time, or else the glass would break and get inside my eyes. However i went completely blank could feel anything but the pain in the eye. I fell on the groud. I was just a 14 year old kid. Suddenly my friend saw me on the ground and came running to me. And then quickly took me back home. My mother was shocked to see the situation and instantly took me to Bangladesh Eye hospital, nearest to my home. I was taken on the emergency unit. At that point i felt like my eye was bleeding. Doctor examined my eye and reported that there had been 4 scratches on my eye ball. The doctor also said that i was Lucky that it went over the scratches cause there a chance of losing that eye or require instant operation. However those scratches kept burning up my eye. My left eye was kept bandaged for 3 weeks. And i also had to be in bed rest advised not even to use the other eye. 2 eye drops and 2 ointment were prescribed to apply in both of the eyes. I had to be in bed for 3 weeks also keeping my eyes closed.

A scratched eye

It might sound pretty easy to hear. But only who experience it can understand how painful it is. Especially for a 14 year old kid. There was class test week going on in the school. I had to miss that. It was so painful all along. And this is such a traumatic experience of my life which I would never forget. I can still feel that pain i had to go through even while describing the story. Ever since then i never ever had the interest in sports. This traumatic experience just killed the interest of sports of the little kid who loved playing cricket twice a day with his friends. Overall it took me almost 3 months for me to not feel any disturbance or to properly see with my left eye. This will remain as a scar in my life.
